Economic Resources for Ohio Businesses

JobsOhio is committed to supporting the well-being of Ohio businesses, especially now as they navigate the changing landscape created by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). Ohio small businesses face the greatest challenges at this time, and we at JobsOhio want to make it as simple as possible for them to get the support they need.

Below is a list of helpful resources for Ohio businesses. We will continue to update it as more resources are made available.

Federal Resources

A resource of funding information, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention updates and guidance, local assistance, government contracting and more.

The U.S. Chamber is working closely with the White House, U.S. government agencies, and foreign government officials to inform and equip businesses with the most important and up-to-date information to prevent the spread of the virus and prepare businesses for the immediate and long-term impacts.

The CDC’s interim guidance may help prevent workplace exposures to acute respiratory illnesses, including COVID-19, outside of healthcare settings. The guidance also provides planning considerations if there are more widespread community outbreaks of COVID-19.

This bill responds to the coronavirus outbreak by providing paid sick leave and free coronavirus testing, expanding food assistance and unemployment benefits, and requiring employers to provide additional protections for healthcare workers.

OSHA’s planning guidance is advisory to prevent the spread of COVID-19 inthe workplacebased on traditional infection prevention and industrial hygiene practices. You can find additional resources provided by OSHA here.

The Wage and Hour Division providesmore information regarding the impact of COVID-19 or other public health emergencies, including the Fair Labor Standards Act and job-protected leave under the Family Medical Act.

The IRS has establishedseveral resources to support taxpayers,businesses and others affectedby COVID-19, including issuing a guidance regarding deferring tax payments.

The Ohio SBDC will continue to provide business advice and assistance to companies in need, including financial projections development, strategic business planning, market feasibility and research, and more.

JobsOhio aims to provide timely and valuable economic data to assess the ongoing impacts of the Coronavirus epidemic. This dashboard uses existing data published by virtue of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act (WARN) supplied by the Ohio Department of Jobs and Family Services (ODJFS). The data is enriched and includes a filterable visualization of the information. The data contained in this dashboard was designed to help track and visualize 2020 WARN layoffs, particularly those related to the Coronavirus epidemic. Data will be updated as quickly as possible as new notifications are listed on the ODJFS WARN website. Any enrichment to the data is subject to change and may be subjective in nature.
