The Growth of Gummies: Pharmavite’s $200M Investment in Ohio
The Challenge
Pharmavite, a California-based life sciences company, was experiencing an increase in demand for its vitamin gummies. With production at nearly double capacity, the gummy manufacturer needed to add a facility to its operations with a desire to expand to the Midwest to reach its East Coast customers more easily. The company’s Nature Made brand was the top dollar-growth brand across vitamin gummies in 2024. Additionally, the company wanted to strengthen its research and development capabilities to further position the brand as an innovation leader in the industry.
The Solution
A $250 million, 225,000 square-foot facility, located at 13700 Jug Street in New Albany. Pharmavite’s first investment in Ohio, creating 225 jobs with room for future expansion on the property.
In addition to Nature Made, the new facility supports Pharmavite’s production of its Bonafide, Wellblends, Equelle, MegaFood, and Uqora brands.
Key factors in choosing Ohio included:
- Ohio’s centralized location, which makes it easy and efficient to ship goods to much of the U.S. and Canada
- The convenience of a highly trained workforce living in the area
- Best-in-class infrastructure including the fourth largest interstate highway system in the nation, the fourth largest network of operating railroads, and the fifth highest state in the nation in warehousing and storage services
- Robust, reliable access to power and water, and minimal natural disaster risk
- The business-friendly tax laws that exist in Ohio
The Results
- Jobs Created: 225
- Total Payroll: $200 million
- Total Investment: $14.7 million
- Economic Impact: Since breaking ground on the facility in 2023, Pharmavite has served as a strong community partner in central Ohio—making a positive impact on the region’s growth, prosperity, and wellbeing through sponsorships, partnerships, volunteer opportunities, and more. Pharmavite works with local organizations, such as Pelotonia, Healthy New Albany, Mid-Ohio Food Collective, The Garden for All, Johnstown Lifestyle, and the Columbus Crew, in the shared pursuit of promoting wellness.
- Strategic Advantage: After an extensive search, Pharmavite chose New Albany because of its role as an emerging science, innovation, and technology hub in central Ohio, and for prioritizing wellness within the community.
