JobsOhio Accredited by the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations Earns Seal of Excellence
JobsOhio has earned of the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations’ (OANO) Seal of Excellence for successfully completing its rigorous Standards for Excellence® accreditation program. Organizations bearing the Seal not only obey the law, but also go beyond the minimum requirements set forth by government regulation.
“JobsOhio is honored to receive the OANO accreditation, which further reinforces our commitment to business ethics and transparency,” said Claudia Herrington, JobsOhio senior director of compliance. “As we pursue our mission of attracting jobs and investment to Ohioans, it is gratifying to know we are doing so while meeting OANO’s high standards of accountability through self-regulation.”
JobsOhio voluntarily opened itself to analysis by a “jury of peers” to merit the recognition. The peer review team examined the private nonprofit’s compliance with OANO’s Standards for Excellence®: An Ethics and Accountability Code for the Nonprofit Sector, in areas including: Mission and Program; Governing Body; Conflict of Interest; Human Resources; Financial and Legal; Openness; Fundraising; and Public Affairs and Public policy.
OANO evaluates fundamental values such as honesty, integrity, fairness, respect, trust, responsibility, and accountability, all of which are inherently important in the nonprofit world. JobsOhio’s programs and services, management, fundraising and financial practices were subjected to in-depth examination prior to earning accreditation.
The accreditation will be highlighted on the external perspective page of JobsOhio’s public GuideStar profile. Earlier this year, JobsOhio was recognized with GuideStar’s Platinum Seal of Transparency, the highest level of transparency recognized by the nation’s premier nonprofit database.
OANO is committed to raising the level of principled and responsible practices within the nonprofit sector. OANO is licensed by the Standards for Excellence Institute® to offer a model for organizations to implement in their operating plans so they can gain a deeper understanding of their effectiveness, improve their decision-making and minimize risks. Nonprofits in Ohio that adhere to the principles and practices of strong nonprofit management and governance can become formally accredited under OANO’s Standards for Excellence program.
