Workforce Wins: Creating an Immersive Training Program With StandardAero
Challenge: StandardAero, a leading independent aircraft maintenance, repair, and overhaul provider, is committed to creating pathways for career development for its workforce. The company’s Cincinnati, Ohio, facility has more than 23 functional job roles on the shop floor, which provides a significant opportunity to create pathways that allow the company's existing workforce to build a long-term career at StandardAero. With a goal to develop and retain its workforce, StandardAero turned to the talent experts at JobsOhio and its regional partners at REDI Cincinnati to create and build a custom training program that would help ensure its employees felt empowered to advance their careers with the company.
Solution: Knowing the impact of immersive, high-tech training programs, JobsOhio, Ohio’s private economic development corporation, connected StandardAero with the University of Cincinnati’s virtual reality simulation program. From equipment rentals to asset development, JobsOhio and its partners worked behind the scenes to help StandardAero create three VR training modules that ultimately supported the company’s vision of creating a center of excellence fully dedicated to providing innovative resources for employee training.
Lasting Impact: The VR training modules became a large component of the facility's center of excellence workforce development model. Various business units and sites across the company have since taken notice and are looking to replicate the immersive approach to training and onboarding established alongside JobsOhio and its partners. The Cincinnati site has since created additional training modules to further build on the program’s success.
