Small Business Founders Celebrated at Lightship Showcase
Leaders at the Lightship Foundation and JobsOhio recently gathered to celebrate small business founders at the Lightship Showcase. The event highlighted the stories of entrepreneurs who participated in the JobsOhio sponsored Lightship Bootcamps. The companies featured included Skin by Brownlee, Hyphen Innovations, Phenomenal Foods Co., Shift Shoes and holm.
These entrepreneurs completed the Lightship Bootcamp, which is a free founder-focused entrepreneurship education program that serves early-stage business founders and their teams through mentorship, specialized curriculums, and investment for top companies.
The program enables founders to completely reevaluate product, sales, and marketing strategies and prepare investment pitches. In addition to coaching across the business, the founders are connected to a network of partners and can attend office hours to address challenges in their business.
Two of the companies featured in the Showcase have also received a JobsOhio Small Business Grant. The grant helps eligible small businesses grow with funding for real estate investments, machinery and equipment, training, and more.
Skin by Brownlee is a Cincinnati-based skincare clinic with their own product line. To meet their growing demand, the company wanted to bring product fulfillment in house. They were able to build out the fulfillment area of their new building with a $35,000 grant from JobsOhio.
Hyphen Innovations develops and manufactures innovative components for advanced aerospace propulsion systems in Dayton. A $25,000 grant from JobsOhio helped the company expand capacity and invest in software and machinery to meet an increase in sales.
