DAYTON – Avelo Airlines has announced that Dayton, Ohio is the newest city in its network with exclusive nonstop service to Orlando International Airport (MCO). Avelo Airlines’ newest route introduces a new era of convenient, direct air travel between the Birthplace of Aviation and the Sunshine State.
“Dayton – say hello to Avelo! We are excited to bring Avelo to the ‘Birthplace of Aviation,’ making getting to The Sunshine State more affordable and easier than ever,” said Andrew Levy, Avelo Airlines Chairman, and CEO. “We believe Avelo’s combination of everyday low fares, industry-leading reliability, and friendly service, coupled with DAY’s time-saving convenience will inspire people from across the region to enjoy all Orlando has to offer.”
Dayton International Airport offers a refreshingly fast, smooth, and welcoming hometown airport experience. DAY’s adjacency to multiple major highways makes it Western Ohio’s most convenient and travel-friendly airport.
“We welcome Avelo Airlines’ decision to choose the Dayton International Airport for its first route in Ohio, bringing a new air carrier to our state,” said Ohio Governor Mike DeWine. “Air service is critical for continued economic growth, and Avelo’s new, round-trip service to the Orlando International Airport will bolster the positive economic momentum we’re experiencing in the Dayton region.”

“The JobsOhio Air Service Restoration Program was designed to bring more routes and seats to Ohio's commercial airports,” said J.P. Nauseef, JobsOhio president and CEO. “Dayton International Airport serves an important market and draws from three Ohio metropolitan population areas. With strategic growth occurring in the region, we are hopeful the success of these routes will be the beginning of more air service at Dayton International.”
Avelo was founded with a vision to help its customers save money and time. Since taking flight on April 28, 2021, Avelo has flown more than 1.3 million customers on more than 10,000 flights.
“In our global economy, businesses need to easily connect with colleagues across the country and the world,” said Jeff Hoagland, president, and CEO of the Dayton Development Coalition. “Avelo’s inaugural Ohio route between Dayton and Orlando gives our region another option for easy air travel, whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure.”
Avelo provides the option to customers that they can always change or cancel their itineraries with no extra fees. Avelo also offers several unbundled travel-enhancing options that give customers the flexibility to pay for what they value, including priority boarding, checked bags, carry-on overhead bags, and bringing a pet into the cabin.
“We’re grateful to Avelo for seeing an opportunity here and to the City of Dayton and JobsOhio for supporting the new route,” said Hoagland. “JobsOhio’s Commercial Air Service Restoration Program works with communities to build new air travel routes to support economic development, and their partnership with Avelo represents a promising way for Dayton to grow our air service.”
