MRI Software: Growing in Ohio Since 1971
Real estate companies are turning to technology to help manage growth and operate more efficiently. MRI Software, a real estate software solutions provider, is making it possible.
Founded near Cleveland in 1971, MRI Software has offices spanning the globe, including in the United States, Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, South Africa and the United Kingdom. MRI Software’s headquarters, however, remains in Solon, Ohio as the company expands its global presence.
MRI is growing faster than ever, having nearly doubled its size through nine acquisitions on three continents in late 2017 and early 2018, including HAPPY Software, Inc., UK-based CML Software, Qube, Real Asset Management and PropSys. The company’s roots remain deep in Northeast Ohio, despite its global growth.
“Northeast Ohio has been MRI’s home for nearly 50 years, and our Ohio employees have been the foundation of building a successful global organization. We see rapid growth in Cleveland’s tech industry and love being located in this innovative hub with a Midwestern vibe.” said John Ensign, president and chief legal officer.
For MRI, Cleveland has been an excellent source of talent. Nearby universities such as Case Western University, the University of Akron, Kent State University and John Carroll University are among the education institutions that have given MRI a pipeline of talent specializing in technology.
“With such a high level of talented professionals in Ohio,” Ensign said, “our headquarters is well positioned to attract and retain the valuable tech talent throughout the region.”
MRI sought and received support from JobsOhio, Team NEO and the state of Ohio to expand its current headquarters. This funding will be used to upgrade its Solon facility to accommodate incoming associates. Its 100,000-square-foot operating space will almost double in size as the company grows, turning a warehouse into additional office space. Part of MRI’s strategy is to attract tech talent from all over the world, and MRI renovated its building to make it more modern and appealing.
MRI values its robust training program, which is designed to help with onboarding and continuous improvement for years ahead. The company puts resources toward training new associates as well as those who joined the team through acquisitions.
JobsOhio and Team NEO partnered with MRI during the expansion process, helping to provide resources for initiatives like enhanced training and “green programs.”
“We could not have been more impressed with the teams from JobsOhio and Team NEO,” Ensign said. “Their passion and commitment to economic development in Ohio was unmatched.”
MRI expects its coming years to yield major growth as it acquires and integrates these operations worldwide. The company’s expansion marks an exciting new era and reinforces that Ohio is a great place for global tech solutions companies to flourish.
