The Challenge
As OPmobility continues to grow its North American business, the company needed to increase its manufacturing capacity and strengthen its proximity to customers in the Midwest. With more than 40% of U.S. automotive production occurring in the region, establishing a manufacturing presence closer to major automakers offered OPmobility an opportunity to improve logistics, increase operational agility, and support future growth.
After securing contracts to supply two new Stellantis vehicle programs, OPmobility needed a new facility capable of supporting initial production while also providing room to grow.
The Solution
OPmobility chose Ohio as the site for a new state-of-the-art manufacturing plant in the greater Toledo area, marking the company's first dedicated Exterior & Lighting facility in the Midwest.
The new plant will manufacture exterior systems including bumpers, grilles, and tailgates, using advanced injection molding, a high-efficiency double-sided paint line, automation, and digital manufacturing technologies. Designed with flexibility and expansion in mind, the facility will give OPmobility the capacity to support its current customer commitments while positioning the company to pursue additional business.
Located near major transportation routes in the heart of the Midwest, the facility will bring OPmobility closer to its customers, streamline logistics, shorten delivery times, and reduce the distance products and materials need to travel. Production is planned to begin in the second half of 2027.
