The Challenge
As Ohio emerges as a growing center for semiconductor manufacturing, companies across the supply chain need sophisticated logistics infrastructure capable of supporting the industry's specialized requirements. DSV, a global transport and logistics provider, recognized an opportunity to establish a larger presence in the heart of the emerging Silicon Heartland.
Supporting semiconductor customers requires more than conventional warehousing. DSV needed a strategically located facility with advanced security, high-efficiency storage, and integrated transportation capabilities that could serve the industry's complex supply chain while providing flexibility for future growth.
The Solution
DSV invested $85 million to develop a 1.2 million-square-foot, high-tech facility in New Albany, adding 300 new jobs and creating a centralized logistics hub designed in part to support the growing semiconductor industry in Central Ohio.
The LEED-certified, multi-client facility offers high-efficiency storage, inventory management, and comprehensive transportation services. Advanced safety and security features were designed primarily with semiconductor requirements in mind, while an integrated building management system supports efficient resource use and sustainability. Though DSV’s warehousing services could support an industry giant like Intel, it could also pivot to serve other large companies in Central Ohio if needed (e.g., Honda).
Located in New Albany Tech Park, the facility provides access to major interstate highways, Rickenbacker International Airport, and intermodal transportation infrastructure. Its location also places DSV near large, growing semiconductor manufacturers in Central Ohio and other companies building out the region's semiconductor supply chain.
Key Factors in Choosing Ohio Included:
A strategic location within the Silicon Heartland, providing access to major highways, Rickenbacker International Airport, and intermodal transportation infrastructure
Proximity to the growing semiconductor ecosystem in Central Ohio, including large manufacturers and their network of suppliers and partners
The ability to provide specialized logistics and warehousing capabilities tailored to semiconductor customers
The ideal site for constructing a large facility plus significant capacity for current and future customer growth
Advanced security, inventory management, and building management systems designed to support sophisticated supply chain operations
Central Ohio's position as a strategic logistics hub for customers across the United States
The Results
Jobs created: 300
Total payroll: $25 million
Total Investment: $85 million
Economic Impact: DSV's investment strengthens the logistics infrastructure supporting Central Ohio's growing semiconductor industry while adding significant capacity to the region's industrial base. The facility creates a centralized hub for storage, distribution, and transportation services, helping companies move critical materials and products efficiently through the region and across the country.
Strategic Advantage: DSV's New Albany facility demonstrates how Ohio's logistics infrastructure is evolving alongside its semiconductor industry. By locating advanced warehousing and transportation capabilities near companies establishing a presence in the Silicon Heartland, DSV is helping build the supply chain infrastructure needed to support the region's long-term growth.
The investment also gives DSV a platform to serve customers across multiple industries, combining Ohio's central location with the transportation, warehousing, and technology capabilities needed to support increasingly complex supply chains.
We are excited to open this state-of-the-art warehouse facility here in beautiful New Albany in Central Ohio. The capabilities and location, here in the heartland, will increase our ability to help customers in the semiconductor and consumer goods industries looking for a trusted transportation and warehousing partner.
